Oxley Table Tennis Group

The Oxley Ping Pong Club, active from 1931 to 1941, was a vibrant part of the Oxley community in Victoria. Meeting notes from this period, preserved by the Oxley Residents Association, provide insights into the club’s activities and its role in fostering community engagement through the sport of ping pong.

In contemporary times, the tradition continues with the Oxley Table Tennis Group. The group hosts weekly sessions most Monday nights at 7pm in the historic Oxley Shire Hall, a building constructed in 1875 that has long served as a central hub for community events. The group’s activities not only promote physical activity but also strengthen community bonds, as evidenced by events like the “Olympic fever” night in August 2024, which brought together players of all ages for friendly competition.

The Oxley Table Tennis Group exemplifies the enduring spirit of community sports in Oxley, maintaining a legacy that dates back to the early 20th century.
