Oxley Memorial Park

Oxley Memorial Park, situated in the heart of Oxley, Victoria, serves as a central community space that blends recreation with remembrance. The park features a rotunda, covered picnic tables, barbecues, toilets, fresh water and a playground, making it a popular spot for families and visitors.

The park is located right near the King River and Stan Allen Reserve just over the Snow Road bridge in Oxley.

A prominent feature of the park is the Oxley War Memorial, an obelisk dedicated to honoring local residents who served in various conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as more recent peacekeeping missions in East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

The memorial was originally erected to commemorate those who served in World War I, with additional names and plaques added over time to honor service in subsequent conflicts. A significant update occurred on 11 November 2017, when a plaque was unveiled to recognise those who served in later conflicts and peacekeeping missions.

In more recent years there has been a Hume and Hovel plaque installed to acknowledge the naming of Oxley Flats just over Two Hundred Years by Hume and Hovell, an Aleppo Pine, grown from a “Lone Pine” seed taken from Anzac Cove and other local memorabilia can be found in this park.
